Long Time No See

Where to start? I went to Washington DC with Charles, Nicole, Josh, Sam, Chris, Brian, Ben, and Aaron. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty fucking awesome. We went to a couple of the Smithsonians, some memorials, and the Holocaust Memorial Museum. We played hacky sack with the Licoln Memorial, got some pictures in front of P. Bush's crib, and even washed our feet in the WWII memorial (sounds terrible, but it's actually fun and quite beautiful). I'd say the highlights of the trip were the hacky sack, some Super Smash Bros. I played (and kicked ass) while drunk, and a ridiculous game of Truth or Dare some of us played on the last night. I took 90% dares, I've hard worse but I got to know some old friends who are too chicken shit to take dares better :). I really hope we can get together again, hopefully for something more activity based like skiing. Also, if any of you people are reading this, lighten up! I've never seen people drink less, go to bed earlier, and be more afraid of taking dares. Believe it or not I'm considered quite reserved in some circles. I am noticing a pattern though, specifically, I enjoy games a lot more than real life. Oh wait, this has been going on for at least 75% of my life. Don't get me wrong, talking or hanging out with people can be better than playing with them, but it's also harder.

Other than that I've been lifting with Brad, watching a lot of House and The Office with Charles, and playing some racquetball with Charles, Brad, Brittany, Mike, Dan, Chris, and Jim (some more than others). Also goin' (and introducing Charles) to trivia at the saloon with Jeff, Allison, Yang, & company. The first time I took Charles (the last time I went) this drunk old dude at the bar was warning us about women - reminded me of a poem by A.E. Housman:

When I was one-and-twenty
I heard a wise man say,
'Give crowns and pounds and guineas
But not your heart away;
Give pearls away and rubies
But keep your fancy free.'
But I was one-and-twenty,
No use to talk to me.

When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
'The heart out of the bosom
Was never given in vain;
'Tis paid with sighs a plenty
And sold for endless rue.'
And I am two-and-twenty,
And oh, 'tis true, 'tis true.

I don't exactly have this problem, sigh, but still. I got a new bowling ball after my old one cracked (hint: don't leave it in your car) and I've been bowling with Jeff and / or Charles. It's going to take a while to get my spare game back though.

I'm learning something new at work, which is always a good sign. Hopefully I don't go blind from staring at computer screens before the age of 30 but I'm not optimistic. I'm off to listen to a song stuck in my head. Sleep well my friends.
